On behalf of ESCAP, I would like to extend my congratulations on the First Viet Nam National Forum on Digital Economy and Society.
ESCAP and the Government of Viet Nam have a strong history of cooperation in Digital and ICT development.
Since 2016, the Ministry of Information and Communications(MIC) has been a partner in promoting the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway (APIS) and provided support for ESCAP resolution 79/10, focused on promoting digital cooperation and inclusion, during the 79th session of the Commission in May.
ESCAP and Viet Nam are also closely collaborating on implementing the Clean Air for Sustainable ASEAN (CASA) from 2023 to 2026, a new project which aims to monitor and mitigate the challenges of air pollution by leveraging innovative digital technologies and data.
APCICT, a regional institute under ESCAP, has also signed an MOA with the Information and Communication Public Management Institute (ICI) under MIC and plans to conduct training in information technology and digital transformation from 2023 to 2025.
Building on such partnerships, I look forward to strengthening cooperation between ESCAP and the Government of Viet Nam in the areas of digital economy and society.
