Capacity building for efficient cross-border transit through dry ports development

ESCAP East and North-East Asia Office, Mongolia Maritime Administration of the Ministry of Road Transport and Development, and the Investment Research Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia jointly organized a training on dry ports development on 20-21 June 2023 in Ulaanbaatar. Government officials (national and local) and representatives from sectors in Mongolia involved on dry ports development participated in the training. Experts from Republic of Korea, China, Lao PDR and international organizations including the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) delivered the training sessions. The two-day training focused on selected policy issues including automation on dry port management for customs, PPP approaches for dry ports projects and country experiences on dry ports developments. Participants also learned about ESCAP’s e-learning module on Fundamentals of Freight Transport Connectivity and Logistics in Asia and the Pacific.

The training on dry ports development was conducted based on the recommendations of the technical assessment study on dry ports development in Mongolia discussed during the technical consultation workshop held at Ulaanbaatar in October 2022.
