The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in partnership with the Ministry of Innovative Development, Republic of Uzbekistan is organizing a Regional Workshop on New Paradigms of Innovation and Technology to Address the Challenges of COVID-19 Pandemic on 3 November 2020 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

The Regional Workshop envisages to: (1) Deliberate on the role of science, technology, and innovation to accelerate progress on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing COVID-19; (2) Sharing of national, regional and global experiences on innovation and use of emerging technologies to address the challenges of COVID-19 and discuss areas for cooperation; (3) Increase awareness on how new technologies are being utilized to fight against and mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic - emerging trends, drivers and opportunities; and (4) Deliberate on open technology platforms to enhance access to information and promote research and development, education and healthcare - areas of intervention for policymakers to prepare for post COVID-19 pandemic. The Regional Workshop will discuss and recommend action plans and strategies for achieving these objectives.

The participants of the Regional Workshop would comprise government officials, research scientists, private sector representatives, technology intermediaries, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other relevant stakeholders involved in innovation and technology transfer.
