27 to 28 September 2017

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) organizes the “North and Central Asia Forum on Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals” in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 27 and 28 September 2017.

As the principal platform for follow-up and review of achievements in implementing the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the APFSD supports preparations for the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in the context of both the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly. It provides opportunities for peer learning, sharing of good practices, and emphasizing national and subregional perspectives.

The North and Central Asia Forum on Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals provides a timely and unique opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the 2017 HLPF and to share subregional perspectives and inputs on next year’s theme of the HLPF and APFSD: ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies’. The Forum also gives an opportunity to discuss the cluster of goals for review at the HLPF in 2018, namely Goals 6, 7, 11, 12, 15 and 17 as well as other cross-cutting issues that will affect SDG implementation, including increase in inequalities and migration flows.
