Strategic planning for SDG 7, climate goals and the energy transition
The 11th meeting of Expert Working Group on Universal Access to Modern Energy Services, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Cleaner Use of Fossil Fuels (EWG-SDG is organized as part of the theme 'Strategic Planning for an Accelerated Energy Transition'.
The EWG-SDG 7 meeting will emphasize the importance of target setting in the energy sector. It will explore various approaches to energy planning methodologies, provide an overview of existing strategic planning initiatives introduced by individual countries, regional country groupings, and international organizations. Additionally, the meeting will elaborate on key components for the successful implementation of a strategic energy plan, such as a comprehensive policy and regulatory framework, adequate funding and resources, technological innovation, and sustainability considerations. Finally, the meeting will address various methods of energy modeling, highlighting its role as a central element in effective energy planning.
