03 to 04 April 2024 | By invitation only

In 2025, the global community will mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), and 10 years of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals. On the occasion, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women will, in March 2025, undertake a review and appraisal of progress made in implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and accelerate the realization of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls

In line with ECOSOC Resolution E/RES/2022/5, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in collaboration with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) will convene the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review in November 2024. The regional review will take place at a critical time for the international community to take stock of progress made and actions required to address barriers to gender equality and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Accordingly, all States are called upon to undertake comprehensive national-level reviews of the progress made and challenges encountered in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and of the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly held in 2000. The reviews are accompanied by a survey which is used to facilitate the global and regional stocktake. The review and survey provide an opportunity for countries to continuously reflect, analyse, build capacities and improve on the advancement of gender equality at the national level.

Recognizing the need to empower member States within the ESCAP region to better engage in the Beijing+30 review process, the workshops were jointly convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women), and aimed to enhance the capacities of National Focal Points for the Beijing+30 preparatory process to complete the review and survey. Through a virtual format, the workshops provided comprehensive training on the reporting process, enabling ESCAP member States to learn more about the national-review and survey and offering the opportunity for countries to ask questions.

The virtual workshop brought together National Focal Points for the Beijing+30 preparatory process from ESCAP member States.

Two identical workshops were convened virtually using the Zoom platform. They took place on Wednesday, 3 April 2024 at 9:00-10:30, Bangkok time (GMT+7) and Thursday, 4 April 2024 at 14:00-15:30, Bangkok (GMT+7). Online participants could ask questions during the Q&A session via the chatbox function and/or share their own observations and experiences through brief interventions..
