Launch of Sustainable Energy Transition Road Maps for Surat Thani, Udon Thani and Chiang Rai & Training on developing SET Road Map using the NEXSTEP framework

Background

ESCAP in collaboration with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy, Thailand, Udon Thani Province, Surat Thani Province and Chiang Rai Province, in developing enabling policy measures to achieve the SDG 7 and NDC targets. Consultation workshops were jointly organized to discuss on data collection, key findings and policy recommendations in 2021 and 2022 with three provinces; Udon Thani, Surat Thani and Chiang Rai.  

Objectives

Official launch event and capacity building for deveopment of the Sustainable Energy Transition (SET) Road Maps for Surat Thani, Udon Thani and Chiang Rai is organizing with the main objectives as follows:

1. Officially launch the Sustainable Energy Transition road map for three provinces
2. Disseminate the key results and policy recommendations to responsible representatives from various agencies such as government bodies, and academic and research institutions; and
3. Encourage partnerships and collaborations to support the implementation of the Sustainable Energy Transition roadmap.
4. Deliver capacity buidling for the representatives of policy makers, provincial energy officers, governmental bodies and utilities.

Organization

Hybrid meeting will be organized during 19-20 July 2022, both in English and Thai languages. On-site will be arranged at the Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square.
