The logistics sector in the ESCAP region is still at developing stage with rooms for improvement. Within the context of South and Southwest Asia subregion, Nepal, a landlocked developing country (LLDC) with mountainous topography, faces particular challenges in developing and maintaining an efficient and effective logistics network notably in international transport and logistics connectivity.
To enhance the efficiency of logistics sector, ESCAP provides assistance to member countries for developing effective transport logistics policies and for enhancing the professionalism and competence of logistics service providers as part of the technical assistance initiatives of ESCAP. In this regard, ESCAP collaborates with Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) to co-organize a Training-of-Trainers (TOT) Workshop in the following topics:
- International purchase and supply chain management
- Border-crossing constrains in regards to time, cost and procedures (national context of Nepal)
- Documentations, trade requirement procedures and liabilities of freight forwarders (national context of Nepal)
