Joint Press Conference on the Opening of the 63rd UNESCAP Session
When: 0930 – 1000, Thursday 17th May
Where: Ablai Khan Room, Mezzanine Floor, Hotel Ankara Intercontinental
Who: Mr. Kim Hak-Su, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and Mr. Marat Tazhin, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan.
What: The annual meeting of the highest decision-making body of the UN’s regional arm in Asia and the Pacific – the Commission Session of UNESCAP – opens on Thursday 17th at 0900. It is the first time in the 60 years of UNESCAP history that the Commission Session is taking place in Central Asia. The first three days of the session will be at senior officials’ level, to be followed by three days of ministerial meeting which will be opened by President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Monday 21st.
