THREE EVENTS YOU CAN'T MISS AT THE UNESCAP
60TH COMMISSION SHANGHAI, APRIL 26th

-- As Ministers from around the region gather in Shanghai Monday
for the UN's regional arm's annual meeting to plan an agenda
for the future, these are three not-be-missed events for your
calendar.
1. High-level Meeting for Asia and the Pacific
2020, Monday April 26th
Some of Asia's most respected leaders Anand Panyarachun
of Thailand, Qian Qichen of China, Fidel Ramos of Philippines,
Farooq Leghari of Pakistan and Sir Peter Kenilorea of Solomon
Islands will share their views on how Asia-Pacific plans to
meet the challenges of the future. The moderator will be UNESCAP's
Executive Secretary, Mr Kim Hak-Su.
2. Inking of the historic agreement on Asian
Highway Network, Monday 26th 1800-1830
The dream of building a network of highways across
Asia and to Europe takes a step closer to reality. The Highway
extends to 140,000 kilometres across 32 countries in the region.
3. Briefing on United Nations High-level panel
on Threats, Challenges and Change
As security is on everyone's mind how does this
UN Secretary-General's panel hopes to cope with the changing
world, and threats to our security. The panel is headed by Mr
Anand Panyarachun of Thailand.
