National Days

ASPAT’2000 Delhi

Five seminars were organized:

  • Asia Pacific Conference on environmental sound Technologies, 15-17 November 2000. Organized by UN-ESCAP Asia Pacific Centre for Technology Transfer
  • Education and Career Options, 16 November 2000. Organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FICCI), in association with ITPO and ESCAP.
  • UN System for Procurement of Relief supplies from SME Sector from India, 17 November 2000. Organised by NSIC.
  • International Congress on Herbs, Indian System of Medicine, Biotechnology anb Health, 17-19 November 2000. Organized by ITPO, DSIR and Herbal Bio-med Foundation
  • Workshops on Healthcare, 17-19 November 2000.

ASPAT’99 Seoul

As a special event in ASPAT’99 SEOUL, a separate section of women-owned business enterprises was organized to showcase the rising status of women entrepreneurs in the region. Ten enterprises were selected from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam. Products exhibited were primarily handicrafts, textiles, apparels and garments, etc.

This special event includes a seminar, organized and conducted by ESCAP and Korean Women’s Development Institute (KWDI). It focussed on the theme "Promoting Women-owned Business".

 

ASPAT’98 Almaty

Three seminars were organized to promote business links between Central Asian Republics and Asia.

  • Two technical seminars on "Doing Business in Kyrgyzsan" and "Doing Business in Uzbekistan".

  • Conference on Kazakhstan and Asia: "Opportunities for Trade and Investment".

ESCAP prepared three publications to disseminate information on "How to do Business in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan".

 

ASPAT’96 Manila

The host organizer, the Centre for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), organized two special exhibits, "Method remembered: Towards a new tea room" and "Officina Alessi: tea and coffee piazza"

A two-day Design Forum and Business Forum were organized.

The International Chair Design Competition was held during the Fair which attracted 206 entries from 12 countries.

The Philippines Postal Corporation (Philpost) issued a commemorative stamp for ASPAT’96.

 

ASPAT’94 Beijing

The China International Exhibition Centre (CIEC) organized a seminar on China’s economic reforms policy. Several technical seminars and press conferences were organized.

ESCAP organized a Regional Seminar on Development of the Export-oriented Electronic Goods Sector in Asia and the Pacific, with financial assistance under UNDP-funded project.

 

ASPAT’85 Beijing

Exhibitors organized 70 technical symposia during the Fair covering machinery, electronics, instruments, textiles, food processing, communications and transport, etc., which attracted around 2,000 participants from the host country.

National days were arranged by participating countries.

Fair’72 Delhi

UNIDO operated an industrial promotion service in the conjunction with Indian Investment Center during the Fair.

A "Seminar on Transfer of Technology" was organized by the Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in cooperation and assistance with UNIDO.

ECAFE Trade Promotion Center offered free service for information on ECAFE and trade promotion during the Fair.

National days were arranged by participating countries.

Fair’69 Tehran

UNIDO conducted on industrial promotion service at the Fair.

The annual ECAFE Intra-Regional Trade Promotion Talks was held from 1 to 10 October 1969.

A marketing seminar was organized by the Fair authorities.

ECAFE Trade Promotion Service was set up at the Fair.

27 governments and the United Nations arranged national days which attracted the press, radio and television and thus served to keep public interest in the Fair alive for 20 days.

Fair’66 Bangkok

The tenth session of the FAO Study Group on Economic Aspects of Rice was jointly sponsored by FAO and ECAFE.

The eighth session of the ECAFE Intra-Regional Trade Promotion Talks was held on 14-23 November 1966.

The Seminar on the second Economic Development Plan of Thailand (1967-1971) was organized.

24 participating countries selected one day each during the Fair to draw special attention to their commercial and industrial achievements in general and to their trade with Thailand and other Asian countries.
