The United Nations Statistical Institute
for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) and the Statistics
Division of the United Nations Economic and
Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP)
co-organized the third Management Seminar for
the Heads of NSOs in Asia and the Pacific.
The objectives of the Seminar were:
To continue the series
of management seminars designed to strengthen
statistical capability in the area of leadership
and management in support for economic and
social development.
To bring the heads
of NSOs in the ESCAP region to a forum to
discuss recent statistical challenges arising
from national and global goals as they carry
out their mandates in an environment of economic,
social, political, and technological change.
To focus on how to manage
change through the integration of people and
process within a given timeline to better
meet the demand on statistics.
To brief the participants
on the different phases of the National Strategy
for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) extending
from diagnosis to the implementation plan.
