OECD/ADB/ESCAP Meeting on Composite Leading Indicators and Business Tendency Survey
Bangkok, 22-26 October 2001
Last update: 1 July 2002

This workshop was a follow-up to three workshops organized jointly by OECD, ADB and ESCAP, on Business Tendency Surveys, held in Manila from 16 to 19 November 1999 and in Bangkok from 21 to 24 November 2000, respectively, and on Key Economic Indicators held in Bangkok from 22 to 25 May 2000.

The  objectives of this particular workshop were to encourage wider use of these surveys and to encourage countries to adopt a core set of standard questions to make inter-country comparisons possible.  In the last two days of this workshop, participants exchanged experiences and gauged how much progress had been made thus far.  They also got hand-on training in analyzing composite leading indicators and predicting turning points of their economies.
