This project on Strengthening Regional Capacities for Statistical Development in South-East Asia was launched on 23 December 1999, under the Development Account of the United Nations. Executed in close cooperation with cooperating agencies in the region - the ASEAN Secretariat, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP). The project was conceived to strengthen the national statistical capacities of the ten ASEAN countries and to improve the flow and exchange of statistical information within the ASEAN subregion.

The aims of this seminar were to stock of project activities and accomplishments, and to assess its impacts in making a difference to the region's statistical capacity.
