The workshop, and its follow-up
event at a later date, are cosponsored by the
Asian Development Bank (ADB) and ESCAP.
The objectives of the inception workshop were
to highlight the importance of social and gender
statistics, particularly with reference to monitoring
of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), to
discuss various methodologies for the collection
of data and their analysis, and to explore other
sources for compiling statistics between the
census years.
