Composite Leading Indicators and Business Tendency
Surveys

The Organisation for Economic Co-Operation
and Development (OECD), and the United Nations
Economic and Social Commission for Asia and
the Pacific (ESCAP), jointly organized
the workshop on a composite leading indicators
and business tendency surveys. The first
two days of the workshop were spent on training
in composite leading indicators and were followed
by one day on business tendency surveys.
The Workshop aimed to help countries in Asia
and the Pacific region improve the capability
to correctly analyze and interpret the survey
results for short-term monitoring and to construct
confidence indicators as well as composite leading
indicators based on both survey data and quantitative
statistics. Furthermore, participants
shared experiences on implementation of harmonized
questionnaires, or revisions to existing surveys
in line with the conclusions of the
workshop held in October
