The International Conference on Closing the Gap
in Planning and Implementation of e-Government in Asia and the
Pacific

Objective
The Conference aimed to identify
the gaps between planning and implementing e-government in countries
in the Asian and Pacific region, particularly in the areas e-customs, e-procurement,
and G4C and to devise the ways for closing such
gaps.
The Conference was attended by 14 participants from
nine countries. It was organized as part of the activities of
the ESCAP project entitled “Closing the gap between planning and
implementation of e-government”, which is funded by the Korea
Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) and has been
implemented by Information, Communication and Space Technology Division
(ICSTD).
Country representatives made presentations
and discussed on the status of e-government development particularly
in the applications such as e-customs, e-procurement, G4C and the gaps between
planning and implementations of e-government in their
respective countries. The Conference discussed further on the
status of gaps in the region and the solutions for
closing those gaps.
Output:
-
Participating countries have recognized the gaps
between planning and implementation of e-customs/e-procurement/G4C
in each country; and
-
Necessities has been raised to establish knowledge
networks on e-customs, e-procurement, among G4C among participating
countries, to exchange experiences and to build capacity
in different applications of e-government at the national and
regional levels.
