The Regional Information Service and Education and Training
Network is responsible for the promotion and exchange of
information on developments in remote sensing and GIS and
other space-based technology applications in the region.
The network serves as an information source on various
activities of space technology applications, capabilities
and facilities related to space technology applications
in the ESCAP region. These are published as an inventory.
It actively contributes to the Asian-Pacific Remote Sensing
and GIS Journal and contributed to the Environment and Natural Resources News of ESCAP until July 2002.
The network also provides through the Regional Space
Applications Programme for Sustainable Development (RESAP)
training fellowships in applications of satellite remote
sensing, satellite communications, satellite meteorology
and space science for technical specialists from the developing
countries of the region.
