The
Regional Working Group on Meteorological Satellite Applications
and Natural Hazards Monitoring has the major objective
of developing a self-sustaining mechanism for promoting
regional cooperation on meteorological satellite applications
and natural hazards monitoring. The Regional Working Group
also provides a forum for promoting technology transfer
and exchange of information and experience among participating
countries through sharing of information, conducting cooperative
projects and participating in training programmes.
The national contact points of the Regional Working Group
on Meteorological Satellite Applications and Natural Hazards
Monitoring are nominated by the national focal point for
RESAP or by the national coordinating organization, and
act under the general coordination of the national focal
point for RESAP. Each member country of the Regional Working
Group may have up to three national contact points representing
government, industry and academia, including heads of national
agencies coordinating on meteorological satellite applications
and natural hazards monitoring.
