Over the past few months, the Asia-Pacific Division of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has witnessed several staff movements within the region, including the following:
Previously with UNFPA’s Country Office in China, Mr. Ronny Lindstrom has been appointed Advisor on United Nations Reform at UNFPA’s Headquarters, Information and External Relations Division, effective 15 May 2006.
As of May as well, Mr. Alain Sibenaler, formely with the Resource Mobilization Branch, has been appointed Deputy Representative in Afghanistan.
From Headquarters, Ms. Mariam Khan, from the Division of Human Resources has been appointed Deputy Representative in China, as of June 2006.
In addition, effective July 2006, three new representatives have been nominated in the region; from Indonesia Mr. Bernard Coquelin has been nominated Representative of UNFPA in China, from Bangladesh, Ms. Suneeta Mukherjee has been appointed Representative in the Philippines, while Mr. Zahidul Huque, previously in the Philippines, has been appointed Representative in Indonesia.
Various staff movements of note are also reported within the international non-governmental research organization Population Council, in the wake of a recent substantive strategic planning initiative.
These include the appointment of Ms. Wendy Baldwin as Director of the Council’s new Poverty, Gender and Youth programme and of Mr. John W. Townsend as Director of the new Reproductive Health programme. The Council’s new organizational structure is designed to encourage innovation and cross-fertilization among biomedical and social scientists.
