Population website a hit
Throughout the year 2005, the website of the Emerging Social Issues Division (ESID) has been one of top most visited websites of ESCAP. For many months in a row in 2005, the Division’s website even ranked as the top most visited website of the Commission, attracting on average about 210,000 requests a month. The website of the Population and Social Integration Section under ESID, contributed substantially to this success, attracting on average about 141,000 requests a month (about 67 per cent).
The population website itself attracted about 105,000 requests a month, amongst which 35,000 were for the online version of the Asia-Pacific Population Journal only and about 8,000 for the e-version of Population Headliners. It is to be noted that the number of requests for this newsletter followed a three-fold increase within a year, starting from about 4,000 hits a month in early 2005 to about 12,000 hits a month in late 2005. Thank you for your continuous support!
