New United Nations Development Research Award awaits contributions


The only development journal of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Juth Pakai: Perspective on Lao Development is accepting contributions from Lao nationals on the topic of poverty or development. Each year, the United Nations Development Research Award rewards the best contributions received from the country. The winning articles are expected to raise awareness about and help stimulate debate on current development practices and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the country. Articles have to be based on original research. They should demonstrate innovative and fresh approach to the subject matter, while being well written, clear, concise and readable.
The first prize for this prestigious accolade is eight million kip (1 USD = 10,805 kip) and a certificate, while five million kip and a certificate will go to each of the two runners-up.
Contributions must be received by 15 August 2005 to be eligible for this year’s award.
