The Department
of Economic and Social Affairs’ Population Division
recently released “World Population to 2300”,
the latest long-range population projections by the United
Nations. The report provides projections of world, regional
and national population size and growth and demographic
indicators for a 300 year projection horizon.
According to the report, world population peaks at 9.2 billion
in 2075. The report also includes a set of essays by major
population thinkers reflecting on the results.
