From ESCAP, Bangkok, Mr. K.S. Seetharam retired on 30 June after a long and dedicated service to the United Nations. Since 1996, Mr. Seetharam had served as ESCAP/UNFPA Technical Advisory Programme Specialist on Population Policies and Development Strategies providing policy and programme advice to policy makers and programme managers in the region, and leading interdisciplinary programme reviews and evaluation missions.

A graduate in Statistics from the University of Kerala and Demography Ph.D holder from the University of Pennsylvania, he had accumulated over 30 years of experience in working with developing countries in the region as well as Africa and the Middle East on issues of population and development.
