  Nepal’s population to reach 35 million by 2021
 

According to a report titled “Population Projections for Nepal, 2001-2021” published by the Ministry of Population and Environment of Nepal, the current population of 25 million is set to increase to 35 million by 2021”. The report also projected the total fertility rate to go down to 2.8 in 2021 from 4 in 2001.
The National Census-2001 conducted by the Government of Nepal estimated the country’s total population at 23 151 423, while the country’s annual population growth rate was 2.24 per cent for the decade from 1991 to 2001.
