World Population Day focuses on youth

This year’s World Population Day throws the spotlight on young people with the theme “1 Billion Adolescents: the Right to Health, Information and Services”.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Thailand will observe this day at the Major Cineplex, Rangsit on 11 July 2003.

Mr. Jaturon Chaisang, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, will preside over the event, which showcases the talents of young people in Thailand. The lineup of activities includes a poster design contest, interactive exhibitions, musical performances and a debate on “Sex Education Curriculum in Schools - Stolen Kisses for Students?”.

The UNFPA supports national efforts to ensure that young people can make informed, responsible decisions and lead healthy, productive lives. This year’s World Population Day is jointly organized by the UNFPA, the Student Network for AIDS Prevention of Thailand (SAT), the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), and the Reproductive Health Division of the Thai Ministry of Public Health.
