Timetable and Conference Format

It is proposed to hold the Conference at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, from 11 to 17 December 2002. The Conference will have two segments:

The Senior Officials Segment
The Ministerial Segment

The Senior Officials Segment will be convened from 11 to 14 December 2002. It is proposed to establish a Drafting Committee to run parallel to the meeting to review the Fifth Asian and Pacific Population Conference Plan of Action on Population and Poverty. The Plan of Action will be developed based on the reports and recommendations from various expert group meetings, conference papers and background documents.

The Ministerial Segment will be convened on 16 and 17 December to review the recommendations by the Senior Officials Segment and adopt the Fifth Asian and Pacific Population Conference Plan of Action on Population and Poverty.
