Brief history

The Council was developed from the Central Charitable Foundation. In cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, it promotes the activities of local Social Welfare Councils and strives to promote social welfare in Japan.

Brief history

On 1 October 1998, about 50 Japanese organizations working on issues relating to older persons organized the Japan NGO Network for International Year of Older Persons (IYOP 1999) to promote nationwide activities for the Year, such as the diffusion and realization of the “United Nations Principles of Older Persons” on the basis of peace, welfare and human rights. With the intent to sustain activities relating to older persons, the Network has continued and now been renamed as “Japan NGO Network on Ageing”.

• To elaborate long-term strategies on ageing
• To promote interchange and cooperation with other Asian NGO organizations on ageing
• To continually work for the realization of the “United Nations Principles of Older Persons”

Brief history

LCS is a strong arm of Kahrizak Home for the Disabled and Elderly (KHDE). With about 2,000 members in the Islamic Republic of Iran and overseas, it consists of professional and non-professional women of all ages and status who provide their services on a completely voluntary basis according to their abilities and the needs of the institution they arise. LCS is a non-governmental, people-supported charitable society with no membership restrictions. The basic requirements are dedication, love and care.

To provide health and medical services, run daily literacy and other educational classes and render more than 50 per cent of the nursing services needed

Brief history

MACU is a non-profit, non-political organization most active in making a consistent effort to solve the fundamental social problemsfaced by older persons. Having launched its first activities with only 150 lonely elderly in 1993, the organization has gradually increased the scope and scale of its operation. Today, it takes care of and provides services to over 2,500 single elderly people, the majority of whom are women.

Brief history and objectives

The Positive Ageing Foundation is a non-governmental organization which opens new opportunities for older Australians. It is actively working with mature Australians as partners in service delivery, education, advocacy and applied research. It supports and encourages older people to become community developers, teachers, mentors and researchers and to take up roles as leaders and inventors in the community. The Foundation also supports seniors to speak out, and assist them to translate their views, ideas and experiences into new services, campaigns and research projects which tackle out-dated attitudes about ageing.

Brief history

Established on 1 October 1991, RECAS is a non-governmental organization and a member of the Viet Nam Red Cross. RECAS aims to conduct research on elderly-related topics and carry out social assistance for the older people. Its members and collaborators include skillful and kind-hearted professors, medical doctors, social researchers, artists, lawyers and social workers.

The TSAO Foundation is a non-profit family foundation whose programmes are directed at the health and well-being of older people. The organization provides health education, training and direct services in elder care. It specializes in the provision of home care which includes arrangement of medical care, meals and volunteer visitors. The Foundation also helps organize hospital care and accompanying support where necessary.
