Viet Nam national workshop on “Review of the status of universal coverage of health-services with a special focus on financing of health promotion in Viet Nam”

The Workshop is organized as a part of the project “Promoting sustainable strategies to develop and improve universal access to basic health care in the Asian and Pacific region”, inviting the policy makers from multiple ministries, including Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance. In Viet Nam, the project aims to contribute to the improvement of health financing systems in the country with a particular focus on financing health promotion schemes.

The objectives of the Workshop are to:

1. Review and discuss findings from the situational study previously undertaken to analyze national experiences to achieve universal coverage of health services;
2. Discuss the challenges and the way ahead for the country;
3. Build capacity for developing plans to optimize investment in health for development and for universal access to health services, including vulnerable groups such as women;
4. Improve dialogue and cooperation among finance, planning, and health officials;
5. Document the outcome of the workshop to serve as an input to a regional meeting to be held over 23-25 July 2008.
