Mongolia national workshop on “Assessment of health financing schemes to provide universal coverage of health care in Mongolia”
The Workshop is organized as a part of the project “Promoting sustainable strategies to develop and improve universal access to basic health care in the Asian and Pacific region”, inviting the policy makers from multiple ministries, including Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance. The project in the country aims to assess the current health financing schemes, especially social health insurance scheme, to identify possible gaps and to develop the plan for the further improvements of the schemes for the universal coverage of health care.
The objectives of the Workshop are to:
- Review and discuss findings from the situational study previously undertaken to analyze national experiences to achieve universal coverage of health services;
- Discuss the challenges and the way ahead for the country;
- Build capacity for developing plans to optimize investment in health for development and for universal access to health services, including vulnerable groups such as women;
- Improve dialogue and cooperation among finance, planning, and health officials;
- Document the outcome of the workshop to serve as an input to a regional meeting to be held over 23-25 July 2008.
