OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONS:

To promote the advancement of women and their contribution to the social and economic development of the country.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES:

Cook Islands endorsed Pacific Platform for action 1994. The Cook Islands are party to the CEDAW by virtue of New Zealand’s signature to signature to CEDAW. New Zealand expresses reservations.

MAJOR PUBLICATIONS:

* National Policy for Women endorsed by Parliament, 1995.
* National Two Year Action Plan 1996-1998, (final copy still in print)
