Expert Group Meeting on Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Asia and the Pacific
Bangkok, Thailand, 11-13 June 2007
The objective of the meeting was to: (i) clarify the concept of sustainable infrastructure, (ii) review existing practices in infrastructure development at the regional, national and local levels, and (iii) identify and discuss key issues in shifting policies towards sustainable infrastructure development in Asia and the Pacific.
The meeting also allowed gathering inputs from experts in the region with a view to defining the scope and strategy, and develop partnerships for implementation of the Development Account project "Eco-efficient and sustainable urban infrastructure development in Asia and Latin America", jointly implemented by ESCAP and ECLAC and in partnership with UN-HABITAT.
