Energy Security Section

Advocate and support member States to undertake a shift towards a new paradigm of energy production and used that will improve access to modern energy services, ensure energy security to fuel rapid economic development and social advancement and enhance environmental sustainability at country, regional and global levels.


  • Energy production and use

    To actively promote a paradigm shift in energy production and use to strike a balance between energy development and environmental sustainability with a focus on low carbon development.
  • Renewable energy

    To strive to scale up the use of renewable energy for sustainable development through supporting the development and transfer of appropriate technologies and South-South-North triangle cooperation
  • Transboundary cooperation

    To further promote transboundary energy cooperation at a subregional level
  • Countries with special needs

    To support countries with special needs on sustainable energy policy, such as least developed, landlocked developing countries and small island developing States.
