Target audience: Staff members who have completed the Supervisory Skills Foundation Training

Objectives:

• Explore the beliefs around power and respect that affect the way you manage and communicate upwards • Recognize the dynamics of authority within a cultural and organizational context that may affect manager-subordinate communication • Understand both your and your manager’s strengths, weaknesses, and motivations and their interplay • Frame your ideas and request with your boss’ expectations, style and needs in mind • Offer feedback in a way that helps managers listen and understand • Communicate in a way that develops and maintains a relationship of mutual trust and respect
