After two and a half years of development, the Department of Safety and Security (DSS), in conjunction with a working group from the Inter-Agency Security Management Network – DPKO, FAO, OHCHR, OHRM, UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, WHO and the UN Secretariat as a whole – is pleased to announce the launch of the self-administered learning course entitled "Advanced Security in the Field".
The course is now available in all six official UN languages and is mandatory for all UN system staff members and associated personnel working in or traveling to a location designated as Security Phase I or higher. This course is the follow up to "Basic Security in the Field: Staff Safety, Health and Welfare", which is mandatory for all United Nations system staff members and associated personnel.
The course may be accessed by logging into the DSS Website, clicking "Training for Staff" and selecting "Advanced Security in the Field". If you are a new visitor to the website, you must first register, after which you will receive a Verification Code in your email. The Verification Code must be entered upon your initial login.
