Interpersonal and Soft Skills

  Mediation Skills

    Duration: 2 days
    Training dates and time: 1-2 July 2008
    Venue: Learning Centre, 3 rd floor of UNCC
    Facilitator: QED Consulting
    Target Audience: Staff members who have completed the Collaborative Negotiation Skills programme

    Objectives:
    At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:




    Facilitate a process of mediation between two conflicting parties from start to finish
    Help conflicting parties to achieve a resolution to their immediate problems as well as facilitate opportunities for deeper psychological and relational transformation
Topics to be covered:







Problem-solving and transformational models of mediation
Creating a collaborative mediation environment and developing an opening statement
Modelling active listening and de-escalation of emotions
Facilitating dialogue and perspective between two conflicting parties
Making smooth transitions between mediation phases
Fostering conditions of interpersonal reconciliation, healing, growth and chang
Managing issues of trust, neutrality, gender, power and authority as a third party facilitator Developing and reality-testing agreements
