Language Programme

Thai language classes:

1. "Survival Thai" Level 1

This introductory course focuses on intensive Thai language skills. Students who successfully complete this course will be much better equipped to get around Thailand. This course will be offered again in the next term delivered by teachers from Jentana & Associates. The course takes place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4 to 5.30 pm, starting on 8 January 2008. Like the other course, this programme is self-financed at THB5,500 per person, provided that 10 - 15 students register, and at THB7,500 per person should there be 5 - 9 students

    Lessons 1 - 10:
        •  Thai Language Tones, Vowels & Consonants
    • Numbers (Telephone, Prices, Shopping)
    • Greetings, Apologies, Farewell, Days of the week
    • Introductions, Occupation, Position, What and Where
    • Questions, Answers, Adjectives, Verbs
    • Locations, Directions

    Lessons 11 - 20:
        •  Daily Tasks
    •  Telling the time
    •  Locations
    •  Talking to the Maid
    •  Going to the Restaurant
    •  The Human Body & going to the Doctor


2. "Survival Thai" Level 2

The Intermediate course expands more fully on the basic language that has been taught in the first 20 lessons. At this level of learning, there is much greater emphasis placed on Telephone, Direction and Travel. At this level, we also offer the option for students to start learning the requirements of reading and writing Thai. If the reading and writing option is taken up, approximately 30 minutes out of every 90-minute lesson session will then be dedicated to this facet of study.The course takes place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4 to 5.30 pm, starting on 8 January 2008. Like the other course, this programme is self-financed at THB5,500 per person, provided that 10 - 15 students register, and at THB7,500 per person should there be 5 - 9 students.

    - With two teachers, the classes are well organized with non-stop learning for one and half hours of each session.
    - Useful vocabulary and usages
    - Lots of listening and speaking practices
    - Home work after each class
    - Good course for starters and for people who know a bit of Thai
    - Become more confident speaking Thai after the course
