As part of the development of staff, increased language skills are critical. The United Nations Secretariat offers a comprehensive global language training programme in all six official languages; i.e. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish, which is administered locally at major duty stations.
In alignment with this strategy, UNESCAP offers a substantial Language Training Programme to United Nations staff members in Bangkok, especially but not exclusively for the 1,000 staff working in the UN Building. In addition, Thai language classes are offered outside the official language programme, predominantly to new staff members.
