  Supervisory Skills Training - Foundation Workshop

    Part I: The Role of the Supervisor and Performance Management

    Duration: 2 days
    Training dates and time: 10 - 11 November 2008
    Venue: ESCAP Learning Centre, 3 rd floor of UNCC

    Target Audience: Staff at P2/P3 levels as well as senior GS staff with supervisory responsibilities.

    Part II: Work Assignment and Delegation

    Duration: 1 day
    Training dates and time: 12 November 2008
    Venue: ESCAP Learning Centre, 3 rd floor of UNCC
    Facilitator: Ms. Anna Harper
    Target Audience: Staff at P2/P3 levels as well as senior GS staff with supervisory responsibilities.


    Objectives:

At the conclusion of this practical skills-based training, participants will be able to:
    •  Create a collaborative environment that supports high performance
•  Demonstrate the critical skills of effective supervision
•  Apply a model for communicating effectively in a diverse workforce

•  Creating openness, transparency, support and trust within your team
•  Providing performance feedback
• Integrating ethical leadership in your management style
• Creating a motivating environment
• Giving meaningful recognition
• Giving and receiving feedback for performance excellence
• Delegating in a way that gains commitment and results
• Using emotional intelligence to manage yourself and others
• Balancing both task and relationship needs
