  Presentation Skills Workshop
    Duration: 2 days
    Training dates and time: 4 - 5 August 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
    Venue: Seminar Room 2, UNESCAP Learning Centre, 3rd Floor, UNCC

    Target audience: Staff at large

    Objectives:









    To develop the essential skills in making presentations
    To speak effectively to any size group of audience
    To sound and look their absolute best
    To be able to convey ideas clearly so they hit their target every time
    To take control of a room and command listener’s attention
    To persuade listeners to take action on their words and believe in their ideas
    To be able to present clearly, smoothly and precisely in English
    To be able to develop attractive, professional standard, presentations incorporating creativity and audio-visuals tools


    Course Contents:
    Day 1
    At the beginning of day one, the purpose of analyzing the audience needs will be introduced. This will be followed by the preparation of the presentation and the techniques for conducting the presentation.










    Introduction to presentation skills and ice breaker
    Analyzing your audience needs (The 3 W’s – Why, What, Who)
    Preparing your presentation (Structure, purpose, audience, content, form, length and notes)
    Projecting your absolute best (Dealing with nerves, words, body language and dress, use of voice)
    Making the presentation (Holing audience’s attention, linking ideas, sequencing, summarizing and conclusion, dealing with questions and difficult participants, useful English phrases in making presentations at each stage – Language Checklist)
    5-minute individual exercise

    Day 2
    Making your presentation, utilizing visual aids and practicing presentation skills






    Image, impact and making impression: Techniques for using audio-visual aids (PowerPoint slides, flip charts, overhead projector, whiteboard, photographs, video, slides, CD players etc.
    Presentation exercises (each participant will be required to conduct a 10-minute presentation on a topic that directly related to their work)
    Individual consultation with the trainer

    Methodology:
    The course is highly interactive with considerable practical exercises and participation.  The objective is the preparation and delivery of a full professional presentation utilizing the skills and techniques that have been learned.  This keeps the training highly personal and allows the instructor to meet the unique needs of each participant.

    Participants will be required to select a job-related presentation topic and then work to develop a finished presentation, complete with visual aids.  They will practice presenting their selected subject on a number of separated occasions.

    The final presentation will be videotaped.  The seminar leader and participants review all stand-up practice sessions to determine how an actual audience received the presentation.

    This course utilizes strong participation and interaction between the trainer and participants.  Participants will have the opportunity to deliver a presentation in a “safe” environment where fellow participants can support and provide feedback.
