In preparation for the Mid-term Review of the Implementation
of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries
for the Decade 2001-2010 which will take place in fourth quarter
of 2006 the Working Group met to discuss (1) Mid-term Review
of the Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least
Developed Countries for the Decade 2001-2010; (2) outcome
of the Workshop on Identifying Emerging Social Issues in Least
Developed Countries of Asia and the Pacific held in Bangkok
on 31 October 2005; and (3) Technical cooperation activities.

Special Body on Least Developed and Landlocked Developing
Countries and sixty-first session of the Commission, and (2)
regional implementation of the Programme of Action for the
least developed countries and landlocked developing countries.

at the seventh session of the Special Body on Least Developed
and Landlocked Developing Countries, and (2) technical cooperation
activities for the least developed and landlocked developing
countries.

Working Group considered (1) resource mobilization
and enabling environment for poverty eradication in the context
of the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least
Developed Countries for the Decade 2001-2010, (2) commitment
to good governance, development and poverty reduction, and
(3) measures for ensuring smooth transition of least developed
countries from their current status.

Following a brief presentation on the least developed
and landlocked developing countries, the Working Group considered
(1) measures to improve implementation of priority operational
activities in each of these countries, (2) human and financial
resources available within the secretariat to implement these
activities and (3) activities which will be implemented in
these countries during the biennium 2003-2004
